Birthday post.

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Yesterday was my birthday and it was a beautiful day to have one if I do say so myself. When I met mom and Paul at Momument we walked to the Tower and over the bridge to the lunch.

Paul made reservation for us at The Chop House by Tower Bridge and we sat outside and had champange. The food was really nice but it was a little too heavy for me (I had posh banger and mash for a main and crab for a starter), and if I am honest then it was probably too hot a day to eat bangers and mash but it was so good.

When I got home I took a nap as I had to go to work for a meeting in the morning, at which I was promised cake but there was none when I got there. It was probably a good thing because I’m not a huge cake fan. Well, in this country anyways, I like American ice cream cakes and whipped icing… yummy!

Emma and Charlotte came over at 8 and we got ready to go out to an indie club and they gave me my presents which included a pop art canvas of Jarvis Cocker!! *sigh* I love that man.

We had a really great night out though. As proved by the evidence below… (more…)

Study in Orange

Originally uploaded by LadyBinx

I went out to London with some friends on Thursday and challenaged myself to take as many photos of orange things as I could. I was actually surprised at how much orange there was. Orange is a strange colour I think, it can be a nice, happy, colour, or it can be a warn not to touch something. It’s also a colour I think that very few people can wear with style. In these photos I like the way the colour pops out of the photo, away from the dull grey and black backgrounds.

While we were in London we also saw James Dean Bradfield (though this may still be under dispute), Noel Fielding and I also looked at a flat a minute away from where Marc Bolan died (morbid, I know, but I like T-Rex).

Groovy

I always wanted glasses, now I have some. I know they are retro and Dame Edna-esque but I love them and with the right outfit they can turn into Adurey Hepburn-esque, and that is never a bad thing.

Thecoolhunter.net recently stated that skinny jeans were becoming unfashionable.

Mark our words: skinny legs are on their way out. Hard to believe, we know, given that every hipster from Hobart to Helsinki is sporting licorice legs right now but the tide is slowly turning, thanks to the world’s top designers who have decided that they’ve had enough of the look. Enter Prada, who are still setting global trends and leading the way in true fashion innovation, despite being a global mega brand (which usually spells one thing: boring). The brilliant fashion house is on a mission to bring back seriously voluminous “flares,” but with a fabulous signature quirky Prada twist in the form of lavish fabrication and intricate prints. Not for the faint-fashion hearted.

Study in Blue

At the moment, aside from buttloads of training to be a hairdresser’s receptionist (believe there is more to it than you would think), I am also doing a study of colour. I am looking at taking abstract images of one colour but with different hues in it. I have one example on my homepage at the moment in blue. I think the colours in this image are fantastic and bright with a perfect gradient across the images. The water drops add texture and depth to the image making it almost three dimensional.
